Downtown Atoka Development
ACIDA contracted with Ambler Architects to develop a comprehensive plan, a Master Vision Plan for Downtown Atoka. Community meetings were held and they were given the instruction to take the feedback from the community and view Atoka as a blank slate.
ACIDA also set up the Atoka Downtown TIF District #1. This TIF district was formed to redevelop the downtown which had been stagnant and declining for several years. The Project Plan and the TIF Policy Guide were developed and adopted per state statute. The TIF District is vital for funding for utility improvements and as a catalyst to promote redevelopment.
Using the Vision Plan and the TIF District, we formed a 10-year plan to renovate and redevelop downtown as a destination location. We presented our plan along with a detailed project for Reba McEntire to open a restaurant and entertainment venue. With her announcement, our plan immediately converted to a 2-year plan. The PDFs below are the start of that plan. We have multiple people from the community working to improve the quality of life for our citizens.
