Mayor

The office of the Mayor serves a dual role as both a ceremonial head of the city government and an active member of the City Council. As Mayor, the individual presides over council meetings and is recognized for ceremonial duties as well as military purposes by the state governor. The Mayor also has the right to vote on matters in the council, carrying the same powers and responsibilities as any other council member, though without regular administrative responsibilities. The Mayor is responsible for signing city obligations as required by the council.
