Atoka Municipal Authority
The Atoka Municipal Authority (AMA) serves as a public trust created by the City of Atoka, primarily to manage and operate essential public services and utilities, such as water and sewer systems. The purpose of the AMA includes the following key functions:
- Ownership and Operation: It owns, operates, and maintains various utility systems, particularly water and sewer services, to ensure the efficient and reliable delivery of these services to the residents of Atoka.
- Funding and Financing: The AMA has the authority to finance improvements and expansions to the utility infrastructure. It can issue bonds or enter into financial agreements to fund such projects. The trust also has the ability to lease, purchase, or acquire property and facilities necessary for its operations.
- Public Infrastructure Improvement: The AMA is tasked with ensuring the city’s water supply and wastewater management systems meet regulatory standards and can handle the demands of the community. This includes overseeing the construction, maintenance, and repair of these utilities.
- Revenue Generation: The Authority generates revenue by charging fees for the services it provides, such as water usage and sewer maintenance, which it reinvests into maintaining and expanding public utilities.
